Gymnastics is a sport that greatly improves total body and cardiovascular fitness for children, including the development of balance, co-ordination, strength, flexibility and muscle control. Additionally, children attending gymnastics classes also learn body awareness through exploration of different body movements, which should improve their motion quality, develop an understanding of their bodies and enable them to extend their own capabilities.
The weekly classes will, as well as the above, additionally provide the children with opportunities for social interaction with both peers and instructors, appreciate respect to others abilities and instill an understanding of the need to work safely with equipment.
Children will be grouped according to their social/emotional developmental stage, coinciding with their year level. Within each class, groups will be formed in line with the child’s skill level.
This will enable movement within the groups as the child advances their skill acquisition. This will instill a sense of achievement and be goal orientated.
